Composition

Tizanidine tablets, USP are in the form of 2 mg and 4 mg tablets which are all available for oral administration. These tablets have active ingredients like tizanidine hydrochloride with 2.288 mg equal to Tizanidine base 2 mg, and 4.576 mg equal to Tizanidine base 4 mg while the inactive ingredients of these tablets are anhydrous lactose, colloidal silicon dioxide, microcrystalline cellulose and stearic acid.

Use

This drug medicine is use as a fast pain reliever which has a short acting effect on the patient's body. It manages thespasticity of the body. The short-term healing effect of this drug made it good for everyday activities which need urgent relief from pain.

Dosage and administration

Using a single dose of Tizanidine tablet which has 8mg reduces spasticity for duration of some hours. It takes effect about one to two hours, and then between three to six hours, the drug disperses in the patient’s body. There are no concrete studies which prove for the effectiveness of this medicine in 4mg tablet but because of adverse effects, it is best to start on such dose for cautious treatment. Gradually, a dose will increase its best effectiveness which results to a very satisfactory muscle tone reduction. Intake of this drug tablet allows a repetition on its dosage with an interval between six to eight hours. Total everyday dosage must never exceed in 36 mg while single dosage of 8 mg exceeding in experience is tolerable but 24 mg every day and it exceeds must consider the limit to avoid ill effects.

Contraindication

This pain reliever drug has contraindications with ciprofloxacin or with fluvoxamine, which are CYP1A2 potent inhibitors.
