Introduction
Omeprazole is a known as proton pump inhibitor and this drug medicine is highly prescribed drugs worldwide. This effective drug medicine was first sell in the market of the United States by AstraZeneca in 1989 using brand names Prilosec and Losec. The over the counter brand is the Prilosec. There are also available generic brands nowadays.
Composition
Each packet of omeprazole for delayed-Release oral suspension has either 2.5 mg or 10 mg of omeprazole or equivalent to 2.8 mg or 11.2 mg of omeprazole magnesium, in enteric-coated granules with inactive ingredients such as glyceryl monostearate, hypromellose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, methacrylic acid copolymer C, magnesium stearate, polysorbate, talc, sugar spheres and triethyl citrate, with inactive granules. This drug has inactive granules with ingredients like crospovidone, citric acid, iron oxide, hydroxypropyl cellulose, dextrose, and xantham gum. The inactive granules and the omeprazole granules constitute with water suspension formulation and are taken orally, through direct gastric administration or nasogastric.
Use
This medicine is used for the medication treatment of GERD or gastroesophageal reflux ailment , ulcers,as well as Zollinger-Ellison disorder which are all acquired from stomach acid.
Dosage and administration
The over the counter tablets or capsules are normally taken orally once a day, in the morning at minimum 60 minutes before eating which must continue for fourteen days. Important Precautions
The over - the - counter omeprazole must never be taken by anyone for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms. It may take one to four days for you to feel the full benefit of the medication. See your doctor if your condition gets worse or not relieve after fourteen days or if you return in your ill condition after four months of treatment.
Side effects
Omeprazole can bring some side effects so talk to your doctor immediately if you feel these symptoms mild or severe such as stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, headache, vomiting, nausea, gas, fever, hives, swelling of eyes, face, tongue, throat, lips, hands, feet, lower legs or ankles, rash, itching, difficulty breathing, hoarseness, lightheadedness, irregular, fast, or fast heartbeat, muscle spasms, exhaustion/tiredness, dizziness, seizures and intense shaking of body parts.
storage
Keep this medical drug in a tightly closed container, and keep it out of reach of the children. Then, make sure it is under the room temperature. Keep it away from light, too much heat, as well as from the moisture. Throw the expired medicine properly.
